How We
Got Our Name
The
Red Jacket Company is named after the Red Jacket Trestle, located just south
of Mankato,
Minnesota in the lovely Le Sueur River Valley.
This historic railroad trestle is the focal
point of The
Red
Jacket Trail, which crosses the Le Sueur River and connects Mankato with
the small town of Rapidan about six miles away.
The
trail winds through lush river bottom and ravines, and past important southern
Minnesota landmarks, including the site of Fort Le Hillier, one of the first
French outposts in this part of North America.
More information on the Red Jacket Valley can
be found in Julie Schrader's excellent book, History
of the Red Jacket Valley.
